Attaching an RFID tag to surgical instruments for clear, non-contact radio identification has been the subject of research at ASANUS Medizintechnik GmbH for 20 years. With splintTag®, the instrument is clearly marked and given an identity. As a manufacturer of surgical instruments, ASANUS Medizintechnik GmbH not only has the necessary knowledge of materials to carry out labeling of this type, but also has knowledge from decades of software development for a sterile goods logistics system. Established RFID technology is used for instruments with a splintTag®. RFID is a technology that everyone knows, for example from contactless card payments or anti-theft devices in retail.
